Masunaga Optical premiered in Fukui, Japan in 1905. Since 1905, Masunaga’s utmost priority is excellence in eyewear above all else. Making an optical frame involves as many as 200 manual processes. In its relentless pursuit for perfection, Masunaga Optical is the only company in Japan that operates all 200 processes, from raw materials to production and finish, in house. Its mission statement is to “manufacture excellent eyeglasses. We want to make a profit if we can, but we don’t hesitate to take a loss. It is always in our thoughts to manufacture excellent eyeglasses.” More than 100 years later, this mission statement remains the guiding principle for all Masunaga employees. Masunaga is exceptionally refined eyewear. MASUNAGA designed by Kenzo Takada is a collaboration between MASUNAGA and Kenzo Takada, world renowned Japanese designer. The collaboration has created luxury eyewear combining vintage inspired elements with fashion forward contemporary design.
